I am Richard Felton, an experienced charitable trust, foundation, and Lottery fundraising consultant. I strive to extend a helping hand amidst these challenging economic times, sharing over 30 years of experience in fundraising. My aim is to share the knowledge, insights, and expertise I have accumulated. I am dedicated to supporting individuals and charities in their fundraising efforts, offering guidance and valuable assistance to help them navigate the current economic challenges.

With three decades of experience as a fundraising specialist and coach, I have successfully operated my own fundraising consultancy and training company in Norfolk. My dedicated team and I have secured over £55 million from grant-making trusts, foundations, and the Lottery. Navigating the highs and lows of grant fundraising, I have gained insightful knowledge and learned many lessons along the way.
As I approach my mid-fifties, I believe it’s time to share my knowledge and help others on their fundraising journey. My commitment extends to anyone eager to listen and learn from my experience. For the past ten years, I have been actively engaged in delivering personalised one-on-one and small-group training and mentoring. The positive feedback received from participants underlines the effectiveness of my approach in fostering learning and development.

Training & Mentoring
Richard invites you or your team to be trained, developed, and inspired with his ‘Trust Fundraiser’ training and mentoring programme. He always strives to help in any way he can. Through his years of experience, he understands that running, working, and fundraising for a charity can often be lonely and frustrating. Sometimes, all it takes is a conversation with someone who understands to make a significant difference and to realise that the problem perhaps isn’t as great as you first thought.
Richard can provide you, your staff, and volunteers with the skills, resources, and support needed for successful trust, foundation, and Lottery fundraising. Participants will receive expert advice and specialist mentoring as they seek out, write, and prepare applications and bids for funding.
Fundraising
Over a six-month period, Richard will coach and support you in identifying the right funders, creating inspiring projects for funding, and producing clear and concise information to make your fundraising efforts appealing. He will provide clear direction along with advice on implementing a specific appeal. Richard will guide you through new ideas and approaches to charitable trust, foundation and Lottery fundraising, showing what works and what doesn’t. He will help you plan and implement a strategy to ensure that your fundraising campaign is moving in the right direction. Dedicated input and guidance will be given to increase your skills and knowledge around charitable trust, foundation and Lottery fundraising practices.
Richard will specifically look at research techniques that source suitable grant-making organisations for you to approach and share his insights on which grant makers are most likely to support your work. He will help you save valuable time by assisting you in identifying the most suitable prospects.

Sometimes an outside perspective is an important part of finding a solution to a problem. If fundraising within your charity isn’t really working, why not let Richard Felton take a look at what you are doing to see if he can find a reason.
